Dr. Wilma Ann Bailey - Wisdom from the Old Testament for Times Like These

Dr. Paul Klemme - Protocols for Safe Singing: Caring for the health and well-being of your singers.

Dr. Lynn Trapp - In Harmony with God: Fusing choral technique, poetry and reflection to inspire group participation.

Dr. John Richards - Ways small congregations can offer music with excellence.

Dr. Don Horisberger - Repertoire and rehearsal techniques for singers who have not sung for a year.

Dr. Wilma Ann Bailey is the Minnie Vautrin Professor of Christian Witness and Professor of Hebrew and Aramaic Scripture, Emerita, at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis, Indiana. She grew up in New York City and attended public schools before entering Hunter College in the Bronx and graduating from Herbert H. Lehman College (same school, different name). Her MA and PhD in religion, with a focus on Hebrew Bible and a minor in anthropology, are from Vanderbilt University.  Bailey’s scholarly works and popular publications have usually focused on issues of peace and justice, women, and ecology. She currently lives in Indianapolis, where she attends Shalom Mennonite Church.

 

Dr. Paul Klemme

 

Dr. Lynn Trapp is a nationally and internationally known church musician, concert organist, composer with all major church music presses, and liturgist who currently serves as Director of Liturgy and Music at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cockeysville, MD.  Of note for this presentation is his In Harmony with God: Choral Prayer and Preparation, published by Liturgical Press, 2008.

 

 

Dr. John Richards is Music Director at St. John's Episcopal Church in Honeoye Falls, NY.   John joined St. John's in 2003 after returning from Scotland (where he served as Music Director at Saint Margaret's in Dundee). He says " I was hoping to find a church that was warm and inclusive, spiritually rich, and blessed with a vibrant music program. I found all that here." You'll catch him most Sundays playing an 1895 Hook and Hastings tracker organ, working with the choir, playing various keyboards, and sometimes playing guitar. John also currently serves as Senior Warden.

 

Dr. Don Horisberger is recently retired as musician at Church of the Holy Spirit in Lake Forest, IL, and as Associate Conductor of the Chicago Symphony Chorus.  He lives in the quaint Swiss town of New Glarus, WI.  A Fulbright-Hayes scholar to Germany, Don has been active throughout his career as a guest conductor, recital organist, clinician, and lecturer, activities he continues.  He is an active member of the Association of Church Musicians in Madison, serving the Madison community professionally, and in association with St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
